Christian Nolle

Christian Nolle is a designer, editor, and photographer.

He is the founder of the digital Innovation Studio, Good Caesar. It’s a small studio but covers a huge amount of ground. Its services span the full range from consultations through to design, build and ongoing aftercare and it engages with a variety of clients, from artists through to large organisations.

Through Good Caesar, he has founded Lite.Flights, the world's first carbon-conscious flight search engine, which ranks flights according to their CO2 emissions. It remains the only flight search engine solely devoted to finding a more sustainable way to fly.

In 2020, he launched Planes Over London, a tool designed to inform Londoners about the flight paths of planes over the capital.

As an artist he has spent decades creating work, often in photographic form, that examines the interplay between aviation, politics, and the cities we live in. These include a long running project focusing on Heathrow airport, The Cranford Agreement, which explores the towns surrounding the airport. Other includes portraits of Funchal in Madeira and Tenerife South.

He is also the editor of Direction of Travel, a newspaper that chronicles the history of airline maps and the culture of flying. It features long-form essays exploring various flying-related themes, in addition to maps, and is published twice a year, available globally in shops from Bristol to Singapore.

Christian holds a Bachelor's degree in Photography from the Surrey Institute of Art & Design (2002) and a Master's degree in Communication Design from Central St. Martins, University of the Arts London (2008). His work has been exhibited in Denmark, Germany, Austria, and the UK.
